New students

We have put together some helpful information for students starting to use the libraries at Lund University.

Two things you need to use in the libraries

1. Student account

All students at Lund University receive a student account when they start. You use your student account to log in to networks, the library catalogue LUBcat, library computers, printers, and to reach our databases and articles from home.

Read more about student accounts on the university website

2. LU card

The LU card is your library card and access card. You can also use it in the libraries’ self-service machines and for printing and copying.

On the LU card website, you will find information on where and when to get your card. You will also find your PIN code there.

This is how you find course literature and other material

Reading lists are available on your departmental website or the learning platform used by your department.

Search for books in the library catalogue LUBcat. In LUBcat, you will see which library holds the book and on which shelf you will find it. You can reserve the book if all copies are on loan. In LUBcat, you can also check when to return the borrowed books.

This is how to get help with reading difficulties

If you have dyslexia, are visually impaired, or have other reading difficulties, please contact your faculty library to receive adjusted course literature, like talking books.

You can find different assistive software on several of the university computers. You can also install these on your computer.

This is where you can study

Most libraries at Lund University have study spaces for individual and group studies. Group study rooms and computers are sometimes bookable.

This is where you find digital material such as e-books, articles, and database

LUBsearch is a common entry point to library resources. Here are articles, journals, dissertations, and books. If you are outside the campus, you must log in with your student account to access the full texts. Our subject-specific databases are available in Databases A-Z. A joint entry to our e-journals and e-books is ePublications. You must log in with your student account to access the resources.
