Organisation

Lund University has one of Sweden’s oldest and largest research libraries. Together with the University Library, 23 faculty, department and centre libraries in Lund, Malmö and Helsingborg constitute a network of libraries at Lund University. Close to 200 people work in the network, providing high quality support to all the University’s students and employees, as well as the general public.

The Lund University Libraries network

The libraries within the network which are connected to a faculty, department or centre are funded by that faculty/centre. The libraries are responsible for the day to day service to students and researchers within their subject area. The University Library provides services to all users within the University. All the libraries in the network are public and accessible to members of the general public as well.

The task of the library network

The principal task of the network is to support education and research at the University through good access to quality controlled information. The libraries play a central role in the dissemination, storage and efficient management of information. We offer students, teaching staff and researchers appropriate library and information services close to their work. Other important activities are teaching in the field of information literacy for the University’s students and support for researchers on publication issues and the research process.

We work together

The same lending rules apply at all the libraries and we cooperate on our various information management systems, such as LUBsearch and LUBcat. The library employees work together in their various fields of expertise in strategy, project and working groups. We continuously update our skills and have a joint professional development plan.
