Registering a doctoral thesis
In order to register your doctoral thesis, you will need a LUCAT username and password. Registrations are made in the research information system LUCRIS. Electronic registration involves making the public defence of your doctoral thesis known and should, therefore, be carried out in good time before the event. Contact the secretary at your faculty or the person responsible, for information regarding the registration deadline.
FAQ about registering a doctoral thesis
Publishing a doctoral thesis in full text
If you or the University is the publisher of your doctoral thesis, the full text (usually a pdf file) can be made publicly available in LUCRIS, something that we highly recommend, in line with the University’s publishing policy.
Before your doctoral thesis is printed, it must have a unique ID. This is called an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) and is usually printed on the flyleaf of the doctoral thesis. Since electronically published books have a separate number, the doctoral thesis will be given two ISBNs, one for the printed version and one for the digital version. Both ISBNs should appear on both versions.
Contact the University library to obtain an ISBN for your doctoral thesis.
