Book fund
If you are affiliated with Lund University, you can apply to make accepted/published books open access (monographs and anthologies). Funding will be set aside annually in a designated book fund.
If the open access publication of a book is already fully funded, by for example, an external financier, funding is not granted, although part-funding may be granted. The costs must be deemed reasonable and be clearly defined by the publisher, but there is no set limit. Only one application person and calendar year may be approved.
The following applies to anthologies
- Separate chapters may be granted funding on the condition that the anthology in its entirety is made open access.
- Whole anthologies may be granted funding based on an application made by the Editor.
The following conditions must be fulfilled

Requirements:
- The printed book is in press (the manuscript must be accepted by the publisher) or has been published a maximum of two years before the application is made to the book fund.
- If the book is in press, the open access version must be published at the same time as the printed version, e.g. without an embargo.
- The book is published with a publisher listed in DOAB, or that is a member of OASPA
The book fund may be used to cover the publisher’s fee to publish the book open access, such as an author fee, a book processing charge (BPC) or the equivalent. Alternatively, to purchase the right to publish the book open access in some other way.
Requirements:
- The printed book is in press (the manuscript must be accepted by the publisher) or has been published a maximum of two years before the application is made to the book fund.
- If the book is in press, the open access version must be published at the same time as the printed version, e.g. without an embargo.
- The book must be of scholarly nature and have undergone a peer review process in accordance with the standards of the discipline/field.
- The book must be available under a Creative Commons license.
- If the publisher in question does not have an established platform for publishing e-books, the book must instead be disseminated via a channel intended for book publishing, such as Open Monograph Press (OMP). For example, see Open Books at Lund University (OBLU). A copy of the book ought to be deposited in the local CRIS-system.
- The e-book must not be sold by the publisher
